Presentation of the book In the Ring of Fire: Defense of Luhansk Airport in Florida, USA

On November 9, 2025, the first foreign presentation of the book In the Ring of Fire: Defense of Luhansk Airport took place.

As part of the 44th Ukrainian Autumnfest at the Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Saint Petersburg, Florida, our colleagues and active members of the Ukrainian community, Mykhailo Voronovskyi, Alina Zaritska, and Yevheniia Zaritska, presented the English-language version of the chronicle book In the Ring of Fire: Defense of Luhansk Airport for the first time in the United States. Mykhailo Voronovskyi is a veteran of the Russo–Ukrainian War and a participant in the defense of Luhansk Airport.

This book is, without exaggeration, unique in our time, because the events described in it were gathered bit by bit from the defenders of the airport themselves, volunteers who risked their lives to bring food to our unbreakable guys back in 2014. This book reminds us all once again that the war began in 2014, and our defenders have been doing everything possible and impossible since 2014 to preserve every piece of Ukrainian land. 146 days of hellish defense of Luhansk airport in complete encirclement, 146 days of hellish battles, 146 days of struggle, where Ukrainian defenders endured, but even concrete and bomb shelters did not endure,” notes Yevheniia Zaritska.

Yevheniia emphasizes that this is currently the only book created thanks to volunteers that mentions and describes the heroic defense of Luhansk Airport, which the Ukrainian military did not surrender to the enemy for use in combat, and calls on everyone: “Read, remember, and preserve the history of the unbreakable defenders of Ukrainian land!

We express our gratitude to the organizers of the presentation and the coordinators of the event, in particular Iryna Karavan, for the opportunity to present the book and tell the story engraved on its pages outside Ukraine.
